Case Study | Association for Facilities Engineering

The Association for Facilities Engineering (AFE) is a century-plus-old membership organization serving all professionals working in the “built environment,” which they define as the surroundings people construct to provide settings for human activity and interaction, ranging in scale from buildings to parks, often including their supporting infrastructure such as water supply and energy networks.

AFE asked Gigawatt to improve and expand their marketing efforts, starting with an update of their brand imagery and an overhaul of their quarterly trade publication, the Facilities Engineering Journal. We started the engagement off with a rigorous discovery phase to better understand the core goals of the association. After our research phase, we began designing and planning for the relaunch of the journal, in its new all-digital format.

In addition, by leveraging the resources of our sister companies we developed, produced, recorded, and launched a podcast hosted by AFE’s CEO, and featuring industry leaders and issues important to professionals in the built environment.

To bring all of these items together, we designed, developed and launched websites to host both digital assets and serve as landing pages for the social media ad campaign.

Our combined efforts led to a 45% increase in Facebook Page followers as well as an overall increase in distribution of the Facilities Engineering Journal.
